Experience our local life
Ballyvaughan is where I grew up. It is here where I went to our local primary school, took the bus to Seamount college as a teenager, drank pints in Monks with friends, lit bonfires on the beach, worked in my parents’ business, walked for hours in the mountains, kayaked across Ballyvaughan bay, biked along back roads, tested boundaries with late night parties and enjoyed freedom and independence that only living in a small community can afford.
I left then after college, eager for new things, new adventures, new languages, new cultures and I had a ball!
When it came time to settle down as they say, I remembered this magical childhood and sense of belonging. The sense of place and connection. So I came home. To remember the past, and to live new adventures surrounded by family and community.
Local Life is a glimpse into this landscape and all it holds for locals and visitors alike. I hope you enjoy these little slices of life in the beautiful Burren!
