What are your Check –In and Check Out Times?

Check-in is between 4pm and 6pm on the day of your arrival. This is so that we can make sure everything is as it should be for your holiday. Please contact us before your arrival should you wish an earlier check-in, we may be able to get you into the cottage (depends on occupancy/cleaning required). Equally, if you think you may be arriving after 6pm, please contact us ahead of time so that we can make the arrangements to ensure your check-in.
Check-out is by 11am on the morning of your departure. Please read our check-out information sheet on the fridge before leaving.

What do you provide?

This is a self-catering holiday rental and so once you arrive, our home becomes essentially your home. We provide a set of towels, linen and most everything you might need for your holidays. There is a utility room with dryer and washing machine where you can do your laundry and all the usual mod cons you would expect to keep a house running.
The house will have both bedrooms made up with fresh linen and towels. There will be supplies in the kitchen containing dishwasher tabs etc. to get you through the first couple of days of your stay. Other cleaning materials and bin bags are under the sink, please feel free to use them as needed.

What about the Hot Tub and Sauna Access?

Our Hot Tub and Sauna are open for use between 6pm-Midnight
Our hot tub is located in an old ruin directly beside the cottage set into the hazel woods. You’ll find it tucked away along a little gravel path. We have to empty, clean and refill the hot tub after each stay, so please be aware that the hot tub will be ready for you as soon as possible (it takes 6-8 hours to get the tub hot enough for use as it is heated using a wood stove). Of course, if we manage to get it ready sooner, you can hop in!
There is a small gate entering the hot tub area, which we ask you to keep locked for safety reasons (especially for young children who love to explore). We provide beach towels for both the hot tub and sauna during your stay. You will find flip-flops and crocs in the hallway to move between the house and ruin across the gravel.
Sauna
The Sauna is a traditional wood-fired sauna is tucked into the hazel wood, just behind the ruin where you’ll find the hot tub. The sauna stove will be ready to light- if you give us 40 mins notice, we will have that nice and toasty for you to use! We would ask that you please not use candles in the sauna as the wax melts and damages the cedar wood.

Safety Note: please be aware that while we endeavor to keep everything as safe as possible for our young guests, we would ask you to keep an eagle eye on young children. We have moved the hot tub and sauna into an area with a locked gate to specifically ensure that young children cannot access the hot tub and sauna without adult supervision. The sauna is operated using a traditional Finnish wood stove, so we would ask young children to be supervised in this area too. We appreciate your understanding in relation to both of these amenities.

What outdoor space do we have access to?

Guests have their own private driveway, parking area, deck, firepit and relaxation area as well as a garden.

There is an outdoor seating area with a firepit located at the edge of the hazel woods and just steps from the private deck. You are welcome to bring cushions and blankets out to wrap up while you read, chat or sip your morning coffee in the quiet of the woods. While we do everything possible to keep the deck clean and dry, it can become slippy during a shower, please use caution. We will provide wood for the firepit, just let us know when you wish to use it and we can set that up for you.
We also have another seating area to the side of the house to relax in between sauna/hot tub sessions or indeed for that morning coffee.

What about Refuse and Bins?

The bins are located behind a wooden enclosure by the main entrance gates to the house. You can drop your refuse in here as you pass by. There are two bins, one for general refuse and one for recycling. The recycling bin takes plastic and paper. There is NO glass permitted in this area. Please place your glass/bottles in the blue bin provided in the utility room and we will dispose of it in our local bottle bank on your departure.
We also compost – you’ll find a green food digester to the side of the cottage. This digester takes all food items, please do not put paper or plastic or indeed glass in this bin. It is a food digester only.

What about Wifi?

We have high speed wifi in the cottage – you’ll find the code on the fridge door. We have NO TV in the house, but if you bring your own ipad, laptop, the wifi speed is strong enough to live stream videos etc.

What is your Pet Policy?

Your pet friends are very welcome in our home; we would just ask that they remain in the downstairs area of the house and that you pick up after them in the garden/driveway outside.
We have Luna, our young cockapoo (cocker spaniel/poodle cross), in the house next door, although we try our very best to keep her within the grounds of our house next door, she may escape from the house from time to time. We also have a cat – Kiwi – onsite. Both are very well used to guests at the house and generally remain behind our gates, particularly if you’ve brought your own pet friends on holiday with you.
